Mamowichihitowin is a Cree Word Meaning,
“all working together”

Our program was gifted this name by local elders in 2002. We are a non-profit program offering Indigenous-influenced therapeutic services to ALL people (Indigenous and non-Indigenous).

Our therapists are specially trained to treat trauma from a variety of approaches and modalities.

We are recognized by the Alberta Association for Sexual Assault Services as a specialized treatment provider.

Our program has grown over the years and now includes two other connected programs.

The Mamowichihitowin Program is inclusive, and consistent with its grounding in a holistic healing philosophy and approach. As a result, there is diversity in the age, gender, and ethnicity of clients. As a non-profit agency, we receive specific funding from different sources, and each has its own requirements. Some of which include:

  • People who have experienced sexual abuse (past or present)

  • People who are wanting to understand and heal after perpetrating sexual violence

  • Individuals/families with children (up to 18) who have experienced neglect and/or abuse

  • Indigenous (Status/non-status/Metis/Inuit) people affected by colonial trauma

Clinical Treatment Options

We believe that providing options for meeting with your therapist, allows for greater access to services and provides a safe and comfortable space for our clients.

In-person therapy

We offer treatments in our multiple office locations, in a private community space, private outdoors spaces agreed upon by the therapist and the client, as well as sessions in the clients home. All of these options are available provided the space is safe and private for both parties.

Telehealth therapy

We understand the importance of extending care outside of in-person sessions. Our therapists are flexible in providing therapy over the phone or on a video call. We want to make sure that time, travel or other hinderances do not result in people not getting the care they deserve.

We have two intake co-ordinators who care for different regions. If you are interested in accessing our therapy services, please reach out to us. One of our intake co-ordinators will schedule an intake call with you to discuss your needs. After that you will either be assigned to a therapist or placed on a waitlist if a therapist isn't available.
