Regional Coordinator

The Sexual Violence Services Regional Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining a specialized, collaborative, and coordinated community response to sexual violence in Yellowhead County, Edson, Hinton, and Jasper. This position helps victims of sexual violence navigate services available to them, delivers community education and awareness. The SVRC works closely with our therapist team to ensure that we provide a collaborative approach to individuals and communities.

SVRC Responsibilities include:

Coordination

  • Establish and maintain effective collaboration with key professionals and community stakeholders working together to better address sexual violence throughout the region

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships between key stakeholders by coordinating regional meetings

  • Map out a system of care and guidelines for developing a network of service delivery

  • Asses systemic service, program needs, and gaps. Work with communities to strengthen responses to sexual violence

  • Develop a coordinated community plan of action for the partners to address sexual violence

Navigation

  • Be the initial point of contact and other agency referral intake point for individuals seeking sexual violence support, services, and information

  • Assess the need for services by assisting individuals to articulate needs and risk, identifying and educating about referral opportunities, and creating individualized plans

  • Offer follow-up support based on the individual needs

  • Communicate with the individual and or referring agency to verify the accuracy of the referral and the needs of the individual

Education

  • Ensure stakeholders are aware of current and emerging best practices in responding to sexual violence

  • Provide training to key stakeholders through capacity building, trainings, and workshops

  • Ensure a continuum of services across the range of victim services, public education, information on crime of sexual assault/sexual abuse, crisis intervention, counselling referrals and other follow up services available in the region
