Laurie Plante

Case Worker ICM

Hello, my name is Laurie Plante, and I’m excited to be joining the team. I’m grateful to call the beautiful community of Grande Cache my home, a place I’ve lived for the past 15 years. Throughout the years, I’ve volunteered to stay connected to my community. I believe that volunteerism is a powerful way to give back and gain perspective by seeing the world through the eyes of others. I’m honored to contribute my time and am continually humbled by the dedication required to run our volunteer organizations.

Family and friendships are essential to me, and I value nurturing loving, supportive relationships. Healthy, long-lasting connections are a critical source of support, especially in remote communities where access to resources may be more limited. I recognize the unique challenges of living in these areas (winter roads on Highway 40, anyone?), but I also see it as an opportunity to build stronger ties within our community.

My background as an Addictions Counsellor in smaller communities across British Columbia and Saskatchewan, along with my Bachelor of Health Science in Addictions Counselling, equips me well for my role as a case worker with ICM. I look forward to bringing my experience to this new position and working closely with those we serve.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy:

  • Archery – Competing in indoor and outdoor 3D archery events across Alberta and often earning top placements.

  • Gardening – A challenging but rewarding hobby. I’m always happy to chat about how next year’s season will be even better!

  • Reading – My to-be-read pile is never-ending, but I’m determined to make progress.

  • Traveling – The list of places I want to visit is long, but I’m committed to making it happen!
