Approach:

It is a privilege to have the opportunity to stand beside you in your journey of healing. I acknowledge the responsibility to foster a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental space for my clients. I am honoured to bear witness to the trauma, pain, and life struggles that touch the lives of so many. My counselling style is collaborative with a balance between validating, normalizing, and utilizing my skills to challenge my client’s when needed in order to reach their identified goals. You are not alone.

My story:

I was born and raised in Thompson, MB. I am of Mi’kmaq and settler ancestry with a passion for promoting Indigenous health and culture. I have been dedicating my services since 2015 to the fly in reserves and surrounding communities in northern Manitoba, the multiple communities in Nunavut, and in multiple care homes throughout Manitoba. After moving to Jasper, AB I was given an opportunity to join the Mamowichihitowin Program through the Hinton Friendship Centre. I immediately felt at home with the warm and inviting nature of the Mamowichihitowin’s community. My goal is to dedicate my learned skills and services to the Indigenous peoples whose lives have been affected by colonialism and intergenerational trauma. However, as the medicine wheel teaches, ALL are welcome.

Experience:

Over the years I have gained experience in working with youth, adolescence, and adults who have presented with multiple compounding traumas and a variety of mental health disorders/co-occurring disorders. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families who have presented with various issues. These include mental health, grief and loss, addictions, life transitions, depression, and so on. I have experience with various specific therapies. Therefore, therapy options will be reviewed collaboratively in session with you.
