Nicole St. Michel, M.A., C.C.C.
Canadian Certified Counsellor
Nicole St. Michel is a counselling therapist who specializes in the body mind connection. Her post-secondary journey began at a small campus alongside the Cowichan River at the turn of the century, when she was 17. Immersed in a variety of courses, Nicole found herself with a combined focus on Psychology and Indigenous studies. An adventurer at heart, she made her way to Montreal to continue her education and made a promise that she would book a trip to India once the degree was complete. What followed were many years of continued study and teaching where Nicole taught yoga and meditation through a trauma informed lens across age groups, and to an array of vulnerable populations.
Friends and family might describe Nicole as having an insatiable drive to learn and understand the human experience. Nicole is a deep thinker and is always up for conversations on the meaning of life. As a therapist, it is her keen interest to bridge the body, mind, and spirit when pursuing wholeness and healing. Music, art, nature and the creative path have long been her sources of strength, helping her navigate her own losses and move through her darkest hours.
Nicole understands that we are spiritual beings having a human experience, and that life rarely goes according to our “plan”. She sees all experiences as opportunities for growth and learning, and views life as a journey leading us back to our heart. And while there may be obstacles, Nicole believes that we are the ones who can ultimately get in our way. She considers it a true honour that as a counselling therapist, her task is to walk alongside her clients with compassion, presence, and non-judgement, as they carve out their own unique path toward healing. Nicole is especially honoured to be a part of the Mamowichihitowin program team.
Nicole’s credentials include a BA in Psychology, MA in Counselling Psychology, Level 2 Gottman Couples Therapy, EMDR, iRest certified, on-going Sound Therapy studies, and Compassionate Inquiry Training with Dr. Gabor Mate.
